About this site
The domain says "financial advisor". The first thing to know about us is that we aren't one — deliberately.
Why we exist
Millions of people in the UK face financial decisions — retirement, mortgages, inheritances, first investments — without knowing how the advice system works, what it costs, or how to tell a qualified planner from a salesperson. Free, genuinely independent education about the system itself is surprisingly scarce: most sites covering this ground are paid by advisers for leads, or by providers for product placement.
FinancialAdvisor.co.uk takes the other path. We publish plain-English guides, free calculators with every assumption stated, and a toolkit that teaches you to find and verify an FCA-authorised adviser yourself — then we get out of the way.
What we are — and are not
We are: an independent publisher of general financial education for UK consumers.
We are not: a financial advice firm, an introducer, a lead generator, a comparison site, or a marketplace. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and nothing we publish is regulated financial advice or a personal recommendation. Dealings with this site carry no Financial Ombudsman or FSCS protection — those safety nets belong to the regulated advice we encourage you to seek for personal decisions.
The rules we never break
- No personal recommendations. We explain how things work; we never say what you, personally, should buy, sell or transfer.
- No product promotions. We don't name "best" funds, platforms, pensions, mortgages or insurers, and we don't carry promotions for specific regulated products.
- No selling you. Your details are never sold or auctioned to advisers. If we ever introduce you to an advice firm, it will be one named, FCA-authorised partner, at your request, with our fee disclosed on the page.
- No paid editorial. No firm can pay to be mentioned, ranked or recommended in our content — our guides don't feature firms or products, full stop.
- Assumptions in the open. Every calculator states its method and limits on the page.
- Corrections, fast. If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
Our editorial standards
- Sourced: facts, thresholds and fee ranges come from official and primary sources — the FCA, GOV.UK, MoneyHelper and named industry research — and the key ones are cited on the page.
- Dated: every guide carries a "last reviewed" date, and time-sensitive figures are re-checked against the source when reviewed.
- Plain English: if a sentence needs jargon, we define it where it stands.
- Incentive-aware: where the industry has an incentive that shapes what you're told elsewhere, we say so explicitly.
How the site is funded
Advertising, brand-level sponsorship and software licensing — explained in full, including what we refuse to take, on the how we make money page.

Questions, corrections, partnership enquiries: [email protected]. One thing we can't do, however nicely asked: answer personal financial questions. That's regulated advice, and the right person for it is an FCA-authorised adviser.
